IMPORTANCE OF HEALTH CARE
How can natural ingredients improve consumers’ health?
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) determines that the aging of the population is a consequence of the evolution of demographic change components (fertility and mortality). Indeed, it is predicted that by the year 2050, the proportion of the global population aged 60 and over will increase from 11% to 22%.
Similarly, it is said that between 2025 and 2030, the life expectancy in Latin America and the Caribbean will increase to 80.7 years for women and 74 years for men.
Likewise, in Chile, it is expected that by the year 2025, people over 60 years old will be 20% of the population, surpassing, from that year on, the group of people under 15 years old. This change implies the challenge of healthy aging.
To address this, the National Service for the Elderly (SENAMA) and the Ministry of Health (MINSAL) have implemented a series of programs benefiting older adults (people aged 60 and over), aiming to promote active aging, foster intergenerational encounters, create favorable environments that contribute to quality of life, delay levels of dependency, and enable them to remain functional and self-sufficient for as long as possible.

Better Functional Health
Aging is a normal process of the life cycle, which is characterized by a progressive loss of functional reserve, at the molecular, cellular and systemic level, affecting the physiological capacity to maintain homeostasis, which leads to changes at the cognitive, physiological, physical, psychological and social level.
Therefore, the World Health Organization (WHO) and other authors agree that practicing physical exercise during aging has multiple benefits, among these benefits are: lower mortality rate from all causes, better functional health, and prevention or delay of cognitive decline.
Health in children
In the UK, there are plans to ban advertising of unhealthy foods aimed at children in order to protect their health. They have tried this in other countries, but they have not been able to pass the law.
Let’s remember several things that always come up when talking about this issue:
- We are not talking about banning these products, but rather banning advertising of these products aimed at children.
- In Spain and the United States, it is estimated that more than 40% of the child population is overweight and metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes are diagnosed at increasingly early ages.
- One of the functions of the state is to protect the health of the population.
- Education is necessary, but not sufficient. No one would think of allowing the sale of whiskey in schools because “you just have to tell them it’s bad and that’s it.”
- Children do not have sufficient knowledge or criteria to analyze advertising messages or the impact of these products on their health (that is why many companies use claims such as gifts, children’s characters, etc.)
- Children do not have the purchasing power to buy these products. If advertising is directed at them, it is to make their parents insist. Of course, parents can say no and can (and should) educate their children in this regard, but it is another obstacle in the obstacle course of nutrition (omnipresence of unhealthy, cheap, attractive, tasty foods…).

Better Digestive Health
A diet rich in natural ingredients can significantly improve digestive health. High-fiber foods, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains, help keep the digestive tract functioning properly and prevent problems like constipation and diarrhea. Additionally, specific natural ingredients may be especially beneficial for digestive health. Ginger and mint, for example, are known for their anti-inflammatory and soothing properties that can help relieve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and other digestive disorders.
McDonald’s welcomes bicycles and scooters at the McAuto
On the occasion of World Sustainable Transport Day, McDonald’s has announced an innovative initiative that expands the use of its McAuto service.
From now on, users who arrive by bicycle or scooter will be able to use the McAuto to pick up their orders, thus promoting greener and more sustainable mobility.
This measure is part of McDonald’s strategy to encourage the use of cleaner transport alternatives and reduce its carbon footprint.
The company has already implemented electric chargers in 150 of its restaurants in Spain and continues to work to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
Paloma Cabral, Corporate Impact Director of McDonald’s Spain, highlighted that this initiative is a key step to promote more responsible mobility and facilitate customers’ access to their favorite products while taking care of the planet.
